About Us

The Swansea Improvement Association, aka SIA, was formed October 18, 1957.  SIA was originally organized to promote and to bring new businesses into to the Village of Swansea.   This was during the post‑war suburban expansion era, the same period when the Village of Swansea, IL transitioned from a lightly organized township to a more structured municipality.  In the late 1960s, a few years before the Swansea Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1970 to take on role of promoting business to the village, the SIA shifted toward community service, social events, and charitable support.

Today, the Swansea Improvement Association’s facility is open to the public and exists as a community social gathering area.  It is still focused on helping community citizens in need, and when able it provides contributions to local schools and charities.

The SIA bar area is open to the public 6 days a week.  A large side room adjacent to the bar is outfitted as an adult electronic gaming area.

SIA hosts weekly pool leagues on Wednesdays year-round.  The pool table in the bar area is free play, except on Wednesday.

SIA hosts a cork ball league on Wednesday evening during the summer, as well as line dancing classes every Thursday evening.  It conducts a Queen of Hearts drawing every Tuesday evening, and has a group that welcomes the public to join in the playing of Euchre every other Tuesday.

The SIA’s 2,840 square foot events hall, and the adjacent 513 sq. ft. meeting/activity room, are available for anyone to rent for hosting all types of functions such as wedding receptions, birthday celebrations, anniversary celebrations, family reunions, celebration of life, retirement ceremonies, craft fairs, etc.

Also, the 27’ x 43’ outdoor covered pavilion with grill pit, electrical receptacles, lighting, and 8 tables, as well as the 135’ x 189’ lawn area are available for anyone to rent for hosting types of functions such as corporate picnics, holiday gatherings, lawn challenge games, community rummage sales, craft fairs, flea markets, live acoustic sessions, etc.
